A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Swimming is a life skill and although it is more often thought of as a sport or a leisure pursuit, primarily it is a means by which a person of any age can learn to survive in water and also to have fun.

LEN'S METHOD

Over the years Len has developed a highly successful method for teaching swimming to all age groups. Our children's classes are small, with particular care for individuals' needs as determined through assessment  by the tutor. When combined with the expertise gained from  long experience and an endless enthusiasm for all things aquatic, our classes prove to be very popular, effective and fun. Beginners are taught in the warmth and safety of Truro Prep. School pool by highly qualified and experienced STA teachers, together with our trainee teachers.  Better swimmers are taught in the Olympic Standard pool at Truro School.  Len also teaches one to one at the Budock Vean Hotel, Mawnan Smith, see 'Individual Lessons' in the side bar.  On the 'dry side' is Didge Hatcher, who does everything else !

In 2009 Len trained a team of four girls from Truro School who successfully swam in a relay across the English Channel.

S.T.A. CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE

In 2003 The Len Hatcher Swim School was awarded the Swimming Teachers Association Certificate of Excellence for the teaching of Swimming and Life Saving. This accolade makes us the only S.T.A. Center of Excellence in Cornwall and is in recognition of many years of hard work maintaining the high standards of the foremost association for the teaching of swimming in the UK. Clients come to us from all over the country; taking advantage of our intensive courses while they are on holiday. In 2014 Len qualified as a NOWCA open water coach and also became a National STA Tutor, the highest qualification awarded by the STA, enabling him to examine and moderate STA teachers, tutors and coaches.
